Daniel H. O’Keefe

Daniel H. O’Keefe was appointed Commissioner of Economic Development by Governor Ned Lamont in November 2023. He has also served as Connecticut’s first Chief Innovation Officer since July 2023, focusing on fostering growth, competitiveness, and digital transformation across the state.

Before entering public service, Dan spent 25 years as a technology investor, most recently as Managing Partner at Apax Partners, a leading global investment firm.

He serves on numerous civic and nonprofit boards, including the Board of Trustees of the University of Connecticut and Brown University, the Board of Regents for the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU), and the Boards of Connecticut Innovations and AdvanceCT. He is also a Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association and a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Dan earned his MBA with High Distinction from Harvard Business School, where he served as President of the Alumni Board, and holds an AB from Brown University, where he served as Class President.
